Russian Nesting Dolls

Q: I keep seeing these dolls. What are they for?
      A: There is no special purpose for Russian matryoshka dolls other then they are part of Russian culture. They are used for decoration, unusual gift, or for collection.
Q: Why do they look so nice?
     A: They are hand painted by talented Russian artists. These artists use special techniques that were passed down through generations for over 100 years. The dolls are expertly hand-painted with extreme detail using akvarel (water-based) paint. Coating them with a high-gloss lacquer creates their unique unforgettable look.
Q: Why are Nesting Dolls expensive?
     A: Our prices for the Nesting Dolls are very reasonable when considering the amount of work involved. The wood is dried for 2 years in natural conditions so it can be cut with tight tolerances. Our small series 11-set Nesting Doll is only 4" tall. Finally the artist spends about 20 hours to paint a set of this size.
